The news comes one day before the NFL Draft, as the Green Bay Packers have informed Nick Collins and his agent that he will be released. Nick Collins suffered a career threatening neck injury last September against the Carolina Panthers and news about is status was reportedly to be released after the draft. The Packers making a decision like this before the draft indicates that they will be looking towards the future at the safety position, and will most likely draft a safety within the first three rounds.

Sad to hear about the Packers releasing Collins, but you knew it was going to happen because of the devistating injury he suffered last year. I hope he can find something behind a desk talking football instead of trying to come back and play in the NFL. The neck is nothing to play with in a violent sport like football. Does that change the landscape of how the Packers go into the draft?
Most defiantly. We’ll probably be looking at drafting a safety as early as the second round.
