It’s no secret that the Lions need help at the cornerback position, but both Stephon Gilmore and Dre Kirkpatrick where already off the board by the time the Lions were drafting at 23. The next possible prospect at the position was Janoris Jenkins but his draft stock has taken a hit due to his off the field issues. The next position the Lions needed help at was the offensive line, specifically at tackle. Riley Reiff was projected to be in the top 15 picks on many draft boards before the draft has started, but he manged to slip all the way down to the Lions at 23. He is the second ranked offensive tackle behind division rival Matt Kalil who was selected by the Vikings. All in all, this was the right pick for the Lions, but they will look to address their secondary within the next couple of rounds.
